Power cage buying checklist

A power cage is the biggest piece of equipment most home gyms ever buy. Getting it right means measuring twice and knowing what each option adds before the boxes arrive.

1200 lb Power Cage with LAT Pulldown

Cage only or with 140 / 230 lb plate packages · $309.99

Measure the room

You need the cage footprint plus about three feet on each side where you load plates and step out of a squat. Check the ceiling against the cage height and add room for pull-ups on the top bar.

Frame capacity

Our cages are rated 1200 to 1600 lbs. That covers the bar on the J-hooks, the plates and the safety bars catching a failed rep.

Pulley or no pulley

A LAT pulldown and low row turns the cage into a back and arm station. Cable crossover frames add two adjustable columns for flys and face pulls.

Frame only or a package

If you already own plates, the frame-only option is the cheapest. Packages with 140, 160 or 230 lb color plates, a bar and a bench save time and make sure everything fits.

Floor and anchoring

Rubber mats protect the floor and the plates. Anchor the cage or add weight storage if you plan band work or kipping on the top bar.
