Bumper plate colors and weights explained
Color-coded bumper plates let you read the load on a bar at a glance. Here is how the colors map to weights and how to build a plate collection that grows with your lifts.

The color code
Under IWF color coding, red plates are 55 lb (25 kg), blue are 45 lb (20 kg), yellow are 35 lb (15 kg) and green are 25 lb (10 kg). Lighter plates in black fill the small jumps. Our color bumper plates follow this code.
Start with a set
A 100 to 160 lb set covers the first months of squats, deadlifts and presses for most lifters. Larger 230 to 370 lb sets suit stronger lifters and households that share a rack.
Fill the gaps with pairs
Pairs from 10 to 55 lb let you add exactly the jump you need without buying another full set.
Care
Store plates on a rack or plate tree, wipe chalk off with a damp cloth and drop them only onto a rubber mat.
